Aaja Nachle - A Big Disaster?

Aaja Nachle was released in the theatres with much fanfare all over the country but sadly the movie was not able to capture the audiences like it was meant to! Well, what do you expect when the script of the movie itself was copied from a foriegn film, a Brazilian musical “Xuxa Requebra “.

Poor Madhuri Dixit, who was rumoured to have been unhappy with the outcome of the movie after it was made, got trapped into the film all because of the dance sequences. But, To give her credit, she has as usual been able to create magic with her dances and she is as graceful as ever!

Unfortunately, the movie attracted all the wrong kind of attention by two states and was banned from being screened there due to some words in the lyrics of the title track, which apparently did not go down well with certain population of those states!

I wonder how many people were able to sit through the entire movie!

Aish - Abhi offers prayer at Kadappa Dharga!

Aishwarya and Abhishek were seen together yet again offering prayers at a Dharga in Kadappa town of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday Morning. They were also accompanied by her in-laws and Amar singh, Of Course! Now we wonder why they are so religious? Is anything brewing? Maybe Aishwarya is expecting? Or are they still trying desparately to ward off her "Manglik" effects on poor Abhishek?

A large number of Bachchan fans and curious onlookers gathered at the dharga to have a glimpse of the star couple. Amar Singh's family and the Bachans later left for Bangalore after spending about three hours at the dharga. The Dharga is often visited by a number of Bollywood personalities and politicians. Music director AR Rahman is a frequent visitor to the dharga.

Om Shanti Om - Biggest Box office Hit

The first week collections of Om Shanti Om has clearly left behind the Dhoom:2 first week record of 35 crores far behind. At 40 crores plus, the film now stands as the biggest Bollywood box office opener of all times.

The Big question now is whether the film's extraordinary run would continue for next few weeks as well, and cross the 85 crore? A target set by the Yash Raj Film production?

It is also arguable that at the time of release of Dhoom 2 there were no other big commercial movies to compete with.On the other hand Om Shanti Om, which has seen excellent collections in week one and promises to break week 2 record as well, doesn't really enjoy such luxuries. Barring current week and the weekend of 14th December, every subsequent week sees a major box office release. While Goal arrives on 23rd November, Aaja Nachle comes on 30th November, Dus Kahaniyaan on 7th December and the trio of Welcome, Taare Zameen Par and Halla Bol on 21st December.

With such huge competition in hand, if Om Shanti Om still manages to stay on in the limelight and earn more than 85 crores, it would certainly be an achievement in itself.

SRK and Sushmita Sen Come Together Again!

ShahRukh Khan and Sushmita Sen are going to share their "chemistry" yet again in the Mudassar Aziz’s debut film ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’. The only drawback here is that SRK's role in the film is only a guest appearance. The shooting for the film is to take place in the romantic islands of Trinidad and Tobago in march 2008. Obviously, Sushmita Sen is pretty excited about visiting the place as it was one of the first countries that she had visited immediately after being crowned "Miss Universe"!

The two big films slated to be released together as a Huge Diwali Bonanza or Dhamaka, on 9th November across all the major theaters in Mumbai and the rest of the country! Om Shanti Om, and Saawariya are going full blast with their promotions as the time is drawing near!



Wonder which movie will score more with the audience? Will ShahRukh Khan's "That 70's show" be enticing and entertaining enough to draw crowds to him and his recently aqcuired new looks with his abs and shirtless shots!

OR will the Fresh and Appealing New debutants Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor(also Shirtless)attract the crowds to them, the fact that this movie has been directed by the great Sanjay Leela Bhansali, will definitely pull the crowds, as he is known for his grandeur and style and never-dying Romance in all his films!

Aishwarya celebrates 34th Birthday in Agra!

The ever gorgeous Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is celebrating her 34th birthday – first after her marriage – at the Taj Mahal in Agra.After spending time together on Karva Chauth, Ash and Abhi along with Jaya Bachchan and family friend Amar Singh visited the monument of love, the Taj Mahal in Agra.



Incidently, Aishwarya is also playing the role of Mumtaz mahal in a film with Ben Kingsley. This is what Aishwarya said in an interview about her birthday in Taj, "This is my first birthday after marriage and therefore a very special occasion. Spending time with the people I love is my greatest joy. I'm in a very happy place. And I don't mean Agra. Just being with three people who mean so much to me makes my life complete. God has been kind. There's great fulfillment in love and in being loved, by not just my husband but his parents who are now my parents. We're one family and we all love one another."

Well what an apt place to celebrate love and togetherness, other than the romantic Taj mahal! Later, when the the Bachchan family reached Mumbai, the birthday was celebrated once again in a grand manner. Many Bollywood stars were also present at the Bachchan residence Jalsa, where the Bollywood queen was presented with a shinning new Mercedese. We wish her all the best and a happy married life!

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan is celebrating his Birthday today, the 11th of October 07.

Amitabh Bachchan was born on October 11, 1942 in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. He is a renowned Indian film actor. He is immensely popular, in the Indian sub-continent and the Middle-East, due to his acting style and also his signature voice. He has been constantly voted as one of the top actors in the Indian film industry. He is the winner of best actor award in 3 different decades and is one of the few Indian actors enjoying international fame, as indicated by his
statue being in Madame Tussauds wax museum in London.



As usual there was a huge crowd of reporters, journalists, public and fans outside his bungalow in Juhu "Pratiksha" early in the morning today. The crowd went totally bersek as soon as the big B made an appearance outside to greet his fans and have a word. So much so, that things got a little ugly as there was a lot of jostling and the women journalists were molested in the whole affair.

Dozens of other fans in his home town, Allahbad,lit firecrackers and danced on streets alongside Bachchan's posters to wish their hero a happy birthday and offered prayers for his good health and happiness.

Apparently, Amitabh wanted a very low key affair and tried to evade the public. But, being a superstar of his caliber, he just cannot escape from it, can he? Well, it's tough being a superstar.

The excitement and the wait for the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Saawariya is unending. The title song promo of the movie gave us a glimpse of the starlets Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor. With its release the curiosity level just bubbled up even more. Masha Allah is its second song promo and this not just gives a glimpse but actually shows our stars in action. Ranbir Kapoor sure look a lot promising.

Mumbai Mirror caught up with Ranbir and Sonam Kapoor on the sets of Saawariya and you have to read this highly entertaining article.They’re 20-somethings, and evidently don’t believe in restraint. “Hell, I gave a TV interview where I said that my sister believes the sun shines from my nether regions,” laughs Sonam. “They will edit it, won’t they?” Chances are slim, you reply. Which draws whoops of laughter. “At least I didn’t say a#*e!”Is this pressure talking, or joy? “No, Ranbir has truckloads of pressure on him, I don’t have that much pressure,” she replies cheerfully.But she too has a lineage to live up to, with Anil Kapoor as father. “I don’t have to live up to anything as much as Ranbir. He has the whole Raj Kapoor banner to hold up,” she insists.

This definitely is not one of his best films!

Aamir’s first directorial debut

Aamir Khan's Much awaited next movie is on it's way, and he is directing this film himself. Much fuss was made on the sets of the movie "Tarein Zameen Par" wherein he wanted everything just so! The ever perfectionist Aamir Khan was diligent about all aspects of this movie which is a remake of the Telugu hit movie Gajjini.
This is going to be his first directorial Debut. Will this movie be as hit in the hindi version as the Tamil one? Guess only time will tell.
The movie is about a disabled child and the person who cares for him. Memento is the Hollywood film that Ghajini is believed to have been remade from, but Aamir strongly negates and says ‘It is a genuine case of ‘inspired form’

Shahrukh rains gifts on co-stars

Shahrukh Khan is leaving no stone unturned to make sure that his upcoming release Om Shanti Om stay in the news till its release this Diwali. He uses every occasion to promote the film, and the Om Shanti Om T-shirt he wore at the recent T20 Cricket World Cup final between India and Pakistan is one such examples. He is in the news again for giving gifts to the cast of his much-hyped film Om Shanti Om.

It is said that Shahrukh is sending expensive gift hampers as a token of thanks to over 35 actors who acted in Om Shanti Om. It is said that many actors acted in the film for free, and hence Shahrukh has decided to thank them in his own style. The gift hamper is said to contain the latest Nokia handset, a Tag Heuer watch, a gold coin, T shirts and a personal thanksgiving note from the actor himself and Farah Khan.

Shahrukh is in the news for appearing sans any shirt for the first time in this film. Debutante Depeeka Padukone plays the female lead role in this film being directed by Farah Khan.

Everybody knows by now that before every movie is released, the main acter and actress will be talked about, with either break ups or involvements or some other such publicity stunt to garner interest for people to go and see the movie.
They have tried this formula for ages now and we all can see through it. Is it all really necessary? Whom are they trying to fool, specially with a couple like Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor! They are both so much in love with each other that it's impossible to get them separated. I really find this ridiculous! With her new movie "Tashan" slated to release soon, These rumours have been floating around for quite some time, pairing her opposite Saif Ali Khan! Poor guy has enough controversy in his life already, not to add another one. It's really difficult to even imagine him with anyone like Kareena kapoor. She's too young for him anyway!

Chak de India movie review

Balbir breathes fire every moment. Preeti and Komal want personal glory and hate the sight of each other. Bindiya is too arrogant to play second fiddle when she’s not chosen captain. Can the national hockey team even dream of winning the world cup with this chaos? Ask Kabir Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) their coach – he’s the only one in the country who thinks they can.

You’ll love Chak de India for it’s storyline. It’s fast, has peppy music and you’ll catch more than 1 example of how a team has no place for sour losers. Most incidents are culled from the live of an Indian hockey player turned coach, Mir ranjan negi. Most of the girls are actual hockey players. Cricket fans may not much like the constant comparisons between the two sports but not for long. Once you get in sync with the girls out to kill on the hockey field, you won’t bat an eyelid.

Abhishek Bachchan the next in Madam Tussaud's Wax Museum?

There was a news report in the papers about another wax figure being considered to stand alongside those of Bollywood stars Aishwarya, Amitabh and that of Shah Rukh Khan in the Madam Tussauds wax Museum. They have prepared a list of popular figures that they are considering for this objective and on this list features names like Lata Mangeshkar, Madhuri Dixit, Abhishek Bachchan and even Karan Johar!

The way of selection is again going to be through popular votes! And the speculations are high that the person that will be selected may be Abhishek, for the ‘silly’ reason that it would complete the Bachchan family!

Now, I find this to be completely and utterly disgusting! How can anyone even imagine taking Abhishek Bachchan’s name in the same category as the great playback singer Lata Mangeskar who is in a different league altogether! It is a great insult to her, I feel! And if they do want to complete the Bachchan family in the museum then why didn’t they consider Jaya Bachchan instead? Hasn’t she contributed more to Indian cinema and also to the country than the junior Bachchan, who still has a long, long, long way to go before we can say that he has contributed in any way to the Indian film industry or the country other than simply being the superstar Amitabh Bachchan’s son!!!??

I personally feel that Lata Mangeshkar would have been the right choice and that she should not and cannot be considered in the same league as the later stars like Madhuri, Karan and even Abhishek!

I only hope that the officials who are behind this move will consider all aspects very thoroughly before making their choice! And May the deserving person be chosen, to represent our country in the right manner and for the right reason!

Chakde India

Can a film peddle patriotism, fight against the gender bias, rip apart class distinctions and make a valid criticism of regional chauvinism, minority bashing, all at the same time? Technically speaking, we would label such a film as sloganeering and would rubbish the filmmaker as a pamphleteer. But wo! what's this. Director Shimit Amin not only manages to make the anhonee honi (impossible possible), he does it with a delicate sensitivity and sensibly steers clear of all cliches.
Great performances by a bunch of unknowns, a gritty pace and a marvellous restraint make Chakde India an unbridled ode to patriotism without any hysterical chest-beating.

Aamir Khan denies Credit to Amole Gupte

The Aamir Khan and Amole Gupte conflict is getting murkier. Rumour has it that the perfectionist Khan is not ready to credit Gupte for his directorial contribution in Tarein Zameen Par. The post production work of the film is currently on and Khan is giving out instructions over the phone from South Africa.
Gupte is terribly upset with 'good friend' khan's decision. Gupte who has worked on the story and script for seven long years was excited about his directorial venture. However, his moment of truth arrived when Khan decided to call the shots saying that he was not too happy with Gupte's efforts.
They have had too many differences during the schedule in Panchgani where they shot consequent portions of the film in New Era High School. However, after a little protesting Aamir decided to credit Gupte as the creative director. Khan who is at present filming for Ghajini in Cape town was as usual not available for comment.

Arhad Warsi and Raj Zutshi showdown!

Trouble brewed on the sets of "Goal" at karjat. Saroj khan was reported to have made her opinion loud and clear about the lack of chemistry between John Abraham and Bipasha for a song. And now another development on the film's sets. Apparently there was a scene where a goal was to be shot by Raj zutshi initially, which was changed at the last moment by Vivek Agnihotri. This upset Raj Zutshi tremenduosly, and he accused Arshad of trying to steal the limelight.
Raj was obviously very upset and they had a showdown on the sets before the rest of the cast intervened and stopped the scene from getting ugly. Vivek Agnihotri says," I don't see why Raj is upset. We did have discussion over it and things seem fine.We always have choices and we have the liberty to change something while on the sets."

Karunya taking Abhishek too seriously?

karunya used to be called Abhishek Bachchan due to his similarity to the actor, during his days on the music reality show(Indian Idol). And at a recent function, Karunya's orange jacket was a tad too similar to the red jacket Abhishek wore in the 'where's the party tonight?' number. Seems like Karunya's taking the abhishek tag a bit too seriously!
Yes, karunya seems to be rocking, as was witnessed at an event in a suburban lounge the other night. He sang his heart out at the event. The mood was all pop and peppy. The songs ranged from the romantic to emotional, club to pop and lounge.The young and talented singer, who had made his bollywood debut with a song in a Vidhu Vinod Chopra film and who also topped the charts with a telegu number, got a loud applause from the cheering crowd, post his live performance.
Also in the crowd were Prajakta Shukre and Rahul Vaidya, who were together all evening, as reported in a newspaper. Something cooking there guys? We wonder!

Trophy Moments For Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty

Salman Khan and Shilpa shetty recieved the Rajiv Gandhi Award for their achievements in the Indian film industry. The awards, organised by the youth wing of the ruling congress party, were presented to young achievers in memory of India's former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.Salman Khan may have more than one criminal case against him, but as far the state Congress is concerned he's still a winner.
Salman will share the stage with Kapil Dev and the flavour of the season Shilpa Shetty. The award will be handed just two weeks before Salman could go to jail for poaching on a chinkara near Jodhpur . The actor is also standing trail before a Mumbai court in a hit and run case where one person was killed.
First was the court announcement of a judgment in the chinkara case set for the 24th of August. Then the film Partner starring Salman is facing a lawsuit for plagiarism. And now comes the award, which has been the only piece of good news for the actor.

Aishwarya and Abhishek deny rumors of Baby Bachchan

Ash and Abhishek seem extremely offended at the latest media scoop that Aishwarya is pregnant. Abhishek was quoted saying, “it is not true at all”.
Ash’s manager said that Ash will be extremely busy for the next two years not just with Bollywood films but also with Hollywood films like Pink Panther 2 which she recently bagged. So it is highly unlikely that the lady is ready to plan a baby right now. But what if hubby Abhishek has different plans as he was last quoted saying, “Kids shouldn’t be planned, they should just happen”. Well, we are always ready to welcome the junior most Bachchan any time!!!

No sooner Farhan Akhtar came back from his family holiday than he started to direct his first period film, tentatively titled 'Voice From The Sky'. The movie is set at the turn of the last century ... around 1905. 'Voice From The Sky' is about the communication system. This goes back to a time when the telephone had just emerged as the new means of communication. Farhan is dedicating the film to mom. According to Farhan, this is going to be the first of several projects that Farhan's production house has lined up for the coming year.

Gandhi My Father - Movie Review

I went to see this movie, Gandhi My Father, in the theater last weekend! I wasn't expecting anything much. But, to tell you the truth, the movie had a real impact on me!
To begin with, the movie was a slow narration of the story of Gandhi - "father of the nation", as we all know him to be, and his son Harilal, amidst the backdrop of history of the freedom struggle in India. This must have been the first time that this aspect or side of Gandhi has been explored in a movie! At least I have never heard of it before except maybe in plays!
The story of Harilal(played by Akshaye Khanna), is indeed a very moving one as it focussed on his failures in life and his misfortunes to be associated with the name Gandhi! I felt touched and sorry for his character as he is trapped between a "mahatma" who is reverred by the nation and a father who is indifferent to his own son's needs. The story has been told in a very subtle and sensitive manner and the scenes between the father and his son were very moving!
Akshaye khanna has done full justice to his role as Harilal and he managed to get tears in my eyes throughout the narration! His love for his mother, Kasturba above his father is perfectly brought out and justified.
The one thing that struck me after the movie ended was the complete "silence" that followed it after the lights came on!
It really showed the impact that the movie had on the audience. Everybody in the hall was left speechless! And gave us all something to think about!
All, great people, even mahatma's have some weaknesses in them!
Kudos to Anil Kapoor! Great movie! Must see it once at least! I think this movie will become an epic!

Bollywood stumped and stunned at Sanjay Dutt's verdict!

Entire Bollywood is absolutely stumped and stunned at the verdict given by the TADA court in the case of Sanjay Dutt! Everybody had expected him to get a probation today, in court. All his close freinds and family were very optimistic today morning when they were interviewed, and they all said that they expected him to go scot free! They all felt that he had served enough of a sentence the last time he was in prison, for the same offence, and that he had suffered a lot through the last 14 years and deserved to be free at last of all tensions!Unfortunately, the judge who presided his case did not believe so! He said that Sanjay Dutt should have sought legal protection for his family if he wanted it and not the illegal way. That his actions were dangerous, and he was mature enough at that time to know exactly what he was doing!Sanjay Dutt, himself seemed unprepared for this verdict, it seemed, as he was heard saying to media persons that he had expected to get a probation and that had not come prepared to go to prison! That was the reason he asked for time, from the Judge, so he could speak to his family members, his daughter, in particular and requested time to surrender! But the Judge denied him time and also cancelled his bail bonds. He is to be taken straight to prison after the court is adjouned!His family and close freinds refrained from giving any comments to the media and appeared truly stunned with the turn of events against Sanjay Dutt!

Shah Rukh Khan statue to be unveiled in Paris

After Aishwarya did us proud by being voted as the 9th most beautiful woman in the world, it was ShahRukh Khan's turn.
He is the first Bollywood actor to have a statue at the French Graven Museum. A statue of the actor is set to be installed at the museum soon. SRK admitted that he felt honoured. He is already cast in wax and standing at Madame Tussauds in London alongwith other Bollywood actors like Amitabh and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The French Graven Museum has statues of Salman Rushdie and writer and social activist Mahashweta Devi.
And among his other recent honours is the Officier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters) by the French government for his prolific career and his contribution to the development of Indo-French cooperation in the field of cinema .

Now that we are on the topic of the Bollywood Badshah ShahRukh Khan, have you seen his latest look? He has a drastic change in his style, after his body building and his new hairdo! He is much more leaner and according to the news reports, looks sexier than ever! Well, personally I preferred his old look. I don't really like this new hairdo at all! Hope he cuts his hair soon. But, like I said, that's my personal opinion! Check out his new look.

Well, After the whole "Shilpa Shetty-Richard Gere" incident, one would think that it would be a lesson to the others as to what happens when you dare to kiss an Indian girl! well, not just any Indian girl, but the really Hot ones.

Now its Cristiano Ronaldo who's in the "Bong Connection". No, he is not starring in the movie. He was caught cosing up to Bipasha Basu at the Lisbon ceremonial party. Bipasha must have been really drunk to do something like that! Or she must like him a lot really....! Well, so are the rumors of the split between Bips and John Abraham true after all! Looks like it!

This is what Bipasha Basu said, when asked about Ronaldo, "Who was to know that I'd party with him just weeks after IIFA?! I was like a fan to begin with. But after we bonded we just became two individuals bonding as buddies over an important international event. We're pals now. If I ever have to see a football game all I've to do is ask Cristiano."

When asked about the 'Kiss', Bipasha said: “Yes, it is me in the picture. It was taken at an opportune moment and has been taken out of context. Again, it looks like a case of irresponsible assumptions.”

This topic now brings me to wonder about this "national" obssession for "Kisses"! To begin with Emraan Hashmi as the official "Kisser" on screen, to shilpa Shetty Kiss with Richard Gere, Aishwarya and Hrithik Roshan Kissing in Dhoom 2, and now Bipasha kissing ronaldo! Can't we just leave them all alone, for a moment in privacy! God, what's wrong in a little kiss? Just about everybody, who's who seems to be doing it to somebody else, So What?!!!

Bipasha Basu has reached Lisbon, Portugal, to host the new Seven Wonder's of the world show alongwith renowned celebrities like Sir Ben Kingsley, Jennifer Lopez, and Oscar winner Hillary Swank. Unfortunately for her, she had to take a flight from London to Lisbon without her luggage, as there was a slight delay in the arrival of the luggage while waiting for the connecting flight! The luggage is scheduled to arrive today, making it 48 hrs without her wardrobe and just 24 hrs away from the main event!
But, notwithstanding, Bips is still very excited as she enthuses about her great grand moment. She requests all of us to uphold India's pride by voting for the Taj Mahal to be included in the Seven wonders of the World!
